Vacations over, folks. Lame.

Obsessed with the picture on the right.  It makes me want to paint my body orange, and eat an orange orange.  Both from Skona Hem.
Right now all i want to blog about is how starting this second i'm on a serious all-you-can't-eat diet.  that doesn't make sense, actually.  my brain is done, too full of fried foods and booze. point being, my friend Corbo's (click her name to check her blog, yo) and I are going to do some drastic de-toxing for a while.

Summer takes a toll on the body, especially a summer with a lot of celebration and a lot of stress-eating/drinking.  My summers are always debaucherous and being the virgo that I am i always insist on going super hard and hitting bottom before the requisite Fall productivity mode.  (I do this around the holidays, too....its strangely self-destructive and super effective at the same time)

So my birthday was last week (same as Rachel Zoe's i was not surprised but extremely happy to find out) and I had my best friends wedding over the weekend - which was effing amazing in every way, will post pics as soon as i get them.  So, I did such a good job hitting bottom, folks.  I mean, i'm terrific at hitting bottom.

And its time to move this pale little bottom into gear.

.....  starting tomorrow maybe.  I have hours of RHONJ, RHODC, Flipping out, Rachel Zoe, Sarah's house, Real Genevieve, Project Runway and Top Chef to catch up on.  Shut up.   I used to feel guilty about the amount of reality tv i watched considering my husband is an actor (whose job is perpetually endangered due to reality tv), but now that i'm in the unscripted Hollywood world (thanks to a reality show), i feel its my duty to give hours of my week to the best of the unscripted.  For it is thee whom i love the most.

Regular post tomorrow.  After a 3 mile run where i will not stop whenever i want to (every other block). I promise.

  1. I am the same. I need to get my ass in gear for the fall. Love Skona Hem. I always fall in love with their room images.

  2. I tend to hunker down during the summer. The heat here in the south is enough to suffocate you... so getting my ish together in the fall is also a ritual for me.

  3. I desperately need a detox fast too. Way too alcohol this summer, and the food I have eaten don't even get me started! Hopefully when the coooler weather comes (if it ever does) I can squeeze back in my skinny jeans!

  4. Now that I've FINALLY watched the show (It took many, many tries on HGTV's site, which I've concluded I hate. But I love your show, so it evens out.), I can only say that you looked awesome. So whatever low point you might have hit, rest assured that it doesn't show on camera. :)

But I'm always a fan of people making healthy changes, so good luck with your new diet/exercise plan!

  5. Hi Emily! I can not, for the LIFE of me, find another way to contact you, other than through here. :) I was wondering if you are doing consultations/personal designs. I just bought a house, and it's basically EMPTY. I have tried decorating it, but it looks like...hmmm...clutter? Ya, clutter. LOL I live a little south of LA, not too far from you. :) If you could let me know if you have time or if you are even doing designs for the "public" you star, you...that would be great. You can reach me at my work email, it won't get all mixed up in the personal email with the junk mail... hello@shopmidoribaby.com

I hope to hear from you soon!!!

  6. Happy belated birthday, Emily!! Just finished watching last night's Flipping Out and RZ myself. And the others you mentioned...well, let's just say we could so be reality show BFFs. I'd share my dvr with you any day ;)

Looking forward to seeing SFAS in the queue!

  7. Wait...Sarah's house is still one? Or are you talking about the house in the country with the fabulous red doors in the mudroom?

Because if there's another house, well, I'd better set my dvr right now.

  9. That orange is gorgeous! Just right for Fall! Makes me hungry for pumpkin spice bread! Ha! That is definitely not on the diet! I actually lost 7 pounds to go to the beach in May and then spent the rest of the summer joyously! drunkenly! gaining them all back plus three more!Dang! New resolve to get off the boo-tay! Maybe we can all not eat together! Just drool over pillows and such!

  15. So happy that an Oregon girl won DS! Here's to a productive fall for you! And if you ever need a reality show junkie/assistant from Oregon who also knows design and adores flannel when appropriate... I'm just sayin'

  16. Emily! Why isn't your show on Hulu? That makes me a sad panda! Design Star, David Bromstad's show and Kim Myles's show is all on there! Tooooooootally bummed. :(

  17. I can totally relate to the hitting rock bottom thing....same boat! I too am a virgo and am either all on/gung-ho or totally off and slacking. I was just saying this weekend to the hubs that I need a detox diet and serious workout plan (this is after consuming the corndog, fries, and funnel cake). I've been on the all-you-can-eat diet as well and myy thighs are paying for it big time. Any detox diet suggestions? You, btw, look fantastic. So petite and trim looking on camera (and in person). You may just motivate me to get my hiney in gear too tomorrow. Thanks for the pep talk.

  18. Just visited my homeopathic doctor for a wellness visit and he was telling me that one of the three best ways to detox is to sweat. The other two ways are the um "natural" ways. But seriously, I got back to my Bikram yoga class last night and it was TRULY amazing. I highly recommend if you haven't taken a class before.
