I Heart Blue Tuesdays

So in line with making sure my head doesn't explode, but I still keep up the blog i've decided that along with mondays being 'Flea Market Mondays' (I lost the 'find' in there, i could tell you guys weren't digging it) Tuesdays are going to be 'I heart blue Tuesdays'.

I was going to call it 'just because I wear blue doesn't mean I am blue' tuesdays, but Brian nixed it and said it was too long, and then i said 'ah, i think its funny', and he said that it actually wasn't.
Whatever.

Welcome to I Heart Blue Tuesdays. Where i will feature my most beloved color 'blue'.

Starting with Peter Franks den:

Cindy and I shot the Garnet Hill Catalogue probably 5 years ago here at Peter Franks house (via House Beautiful) up the Hudson Valley.  It was the first time that I saw (or fell head over oxfords for) blue grasscloth.  I remember thinking it is just so warm, but quiet - a texture without pattern.

Peter is a stylist and his house is beautiful in every way, but this room in particular looks so 'weekend' and comfortable but still high end.

Kudos, Pete.  Can i call you Pete, Pete?

You guys probably have seen this, but I hadn't for some reason.  (via apartment therapy).
I was surprised to find out that it was a home, i thought it was a catalogue for whomever makes those crochet thingy's (is it their home, does anyone know?)

But the colors are what does it for me.  And to all of you who think that wood panelling is out, i say to you, 'nay, NAY 'tis in'.  Granted i'm the 70's girl, but i love some painted white or stripped and washed wood panelling any day.  a la this one:

Sorry no blue in that one.
But i leave you with this happy happy space.

Do we like 'I heart Blue Tuesdays'
and yes it will include some fashion, accessories, links to products, etc. anything i want, really.

As long as its blue.

  4. My very favorite color in the universe is blue. I like it like I like rain. And gray and bronze. Which are, I have just discovered, my colors. Besides blue. I waited 29 years for that discovery.

  5. I knew I loved you when I saw the blue dress you wore after the glass house challenge. I am a 'blue' person too. My living room is furnished in blue pieces I got through Freecycle and I recovered a storage ottoman with TH's Laguna Bay Stars sheets.

  6. The good news is we all heart I heart blue Tuesday.

The bad news is, it has already been shortened to simply Blue Tuesday.

    But we still heart you!

  7. I love Blue Tuesdays. I have some fabulous pictures with navy saved away in inspiration files. I already had that last one, but was glad to see a few new friends up there! I also should tell you I love Flea Market Mondays. You're right though, the "find" had to go. I might end up re-naming my calendar days like this, it's fun.

  8. Hi Emily, Pendragon1951 here from twitter, I'm glad I have a chance to comment where you actually have a chance to see what I say and not in the midst of your thousands of fans:) First off my wife and I were so glad you won, you definitely have the right personality to host your own show. We love your sense of design and color choices. I had seen your ad for a blog intern, but since I don't blog anymore I didn't think it was correct to throw my hat in the mix. What I did do though take a look at your blog and came up with a logo design for the Brass Petal, it was my twitter reply to you yesterday, if you can't find it email me at warwolf1951@gmail.com and I'll send it to you. I also have a friend who loves digging through shops for items for her designs as well and she also use to always either snag her nylons or run them, so she switched to stockings and said it was much cheaper in the long run. So let me know what you think of the logo design. Hope to hear from you, God Bless.

  9. Yes! Navy is my favorite and I've always felt like it doesn't get enough love in the design world. I imagine many of your picks will make their way into my inspiration binder.

  10. I am liking blue Tuesday's and also mightily enjoying flea market mondays. I like the flea market finds because I never ever find anything as cool as people do who thrift in LA. Our flea markets in the Bay area are so sad. Or maybe I'm just not looking in the right places...

  11. Emily, you know you can't name everyday of the week, right? But I do like Blue Tuesdays. and Meatless Mondays.

  12. I have been a dedicated "I hate blue" person since being steeped in too much "country blue" in the 80s-90s. But the good news is - I have loved every blue strand I have seen done by you, and I may have to give up my "I hate blue" stance to the new "I heart blue!" Thanks for changing BLUE for me!

  13. going on record here as loving the 'monday find' concept, but Ima Vintage/Antiques gal anyway...

I have YOU to blame for my new obsession with indigo. Now looking for an older rug in that color. looks so swell with....yep. you guessed it....gray

  14. I loved the flea market Monday idea. Reading the prices and hearing about bargains is fun.
BTW- I loved your first show. My favorite thing you said was, It's a sconce, not a baby!" I laughed so hard. I look forward to more...

  15. the last photo - looks like Farrow & Ball's Black Blue paint, with which I painted our craftsman (yes - with dark stained wood trim - call me brave) living and dining room. I heart blue anytime, sistah.

  16. I love love love the blue walls. And all of the styling. Love. And the third photo down. If I didn't have a new baby, I would love. :)

  20. J'adore blue and you - keep it coming! That first photo is going in my inspiration file. It is the perfect balance of casual and refined.

  21. I love this feature!! Right now, that indigo blue is my new color obsession. I've been collecting (inexpensive) blue and white pottery, and I've started grouping it in our bedroom. Which isn't necessarily a new look, but one that I'm loving right now.

Oh, and I don't think putting commercial carpet in a residence is weird at all! It's very tailored and modern looking! (Plus it will last forever)

  22. You're hysterical. You write how I think, but am too brain dead to do the majority of the time (2 kids has taken a toll on my mad writing skillz). Keep it up- love following the blog.

  23. Yes, I totally heart blue! I have been trying to gather the courage to paint a hallway navy blue... I will have to add that Patricia Gray photo to my list of likes.

  24. That's a pretty blue! I'm not on board with any wall treatment automatically being "out." Except for dorm-room white-painted cinderblock. That's always out. But aside from that... sure, sometimes wood paneling is nice. I was a '70s girl, too. :)

Not sure about all the crochet, but the colors are nice.

  25. Hi Emily!
I am thrilled for your big win on DS, you are a star. I read that you are looking for an intern, but I don't think that adding more bells and whistles to your blog will be the same. Your precious, fun, unique personality just shines in your blog and I would hate to see it morphed into something slick and generic. There are plenty of those out there. A couple of lessons with a techie will help you with your challenges. I love Picnik.com for photo editing that is really, really simple! Keep up the great work and come visit me!

  31. I love blue Tuesdays! This is my favorite color for the home - can't wait to see what else you have in store =)

  32. I'm liking blue Tuesdays! Do they make navy blue grasscloth? And just what are you supposed to do about the way it doesn't line up? Does it matter if you see the seams? Someone should really give you your own Emily-Blue paint color!

  33. I fell in love with this wallpaper and thought you might appreciate the blue (tho it's a lot brighter!) http://www.bodieandfou.com/true_blue_wallpaper-ultramarinegold?category_id=66

  34. I want that Peter Frank(s) room because it's 95% perfect; the skin on the floor isn't me, and I'll replace that minky looking pillow with a cat that's only slightly darker (but just as fat).

  35. i don't know if these are the same as what's posted in the photo, but i remembered seeing these neat crochet poufs a while back, &they look relatively similar.. http://blog.2modern.com/2009/02/contemporary-crochet.html

i keep telling myself i'm going to make one someday.. instructions here: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/ny/how-to/yes-we-canemdashmake-a-knitted-pouf-090261

  36. Ummmm, I think my Weekly Whiteout should date your I Heart Blue Tuesdays. I mean, can you imagine the children??

  37. I do like I heart Blue Tuesdays and I liked flea market finds Mondays too. I live in a part of the world where flea markets with good stuff is non existant (Menifee, CA- don't ask where is is I'm MOVING) I need to know someone in the world is finding the good stuff. I think you should do an Etsy find Friday entry for the urban market starved people.

  38. I could definitely dig Blue Tuesdays.
Emily, I was as the Nate Show taping Tuesday. I just wanted to compliment you on your segment. You did a great job, were cute and funny (was dying over your outfit!), and stayed perfectly poised. Nice work.
