Finally its announced...

Secrets from a Stylist has been picked up for 26 episodes!!!!!!
Yep.
which is also my age.
or was my age a few years ago.  whatever.

So my midnight post is dedicated to trying to find new houses to cast for the show.   If your grandparents need a restyling, if your brother-in-law needs a restyling, or anyone really that lives in LA that owns there own place needs a restyling by yours truly, please follow the directions below.

*****UPDATE:
Email casting@triconfilms.com

Here are the conditions:  You have to live in L.A. (if the house/people are so great I think we can travel to Orange County or within 30  miles of LA, but really ideally we are in LA)
You have to own your space.  I know. I'm a renter too and it would totally bum me out, but this is how it is will all these shows.

If you live in a duplex and are best friends with your landlord then you might be able to swing it, but apartment buildings with a bunch of other tenants create a lot of problems)

We will only be doing 1 room, not a whole house.

At this time we are not doing any bathrooms or kitchens, if that changes i'll let you know. It's not a reno show, its a style show and those are to costly and timely for production.

You will be on TV.
And your schedule has to be flexible as we shoot 6 days a week
(you won't be on all 6, but will need to be available when necessary).

The bigger the personality, the better.

Oh and the room should be 15x20 or else amazing.  We  need big rooms.

In your email, include pictures of you/your family/your space and info on what your styles are and what you see for the space.  And don't be conservative with your personality, bring it.

Everyone that left a comment, just go ahead and email them to casting.  I'll try to get back to people, but I probably shoulda just waited 'til I had the proper email to post....but instead I had some sake and was really excited to tell all my virtual friends...

And remember - I want to do anyone.  woah...

You might think that your cousin that lives in LA has completely different style than me, but that's what we want.  As much I love doing all vintage-flea-markety-hipster, I want to do some traditional styles (shopping from flea markets, too, don't worry) or crazy minimal styles, anything that will make the show interesting week after week.

I can do any style tastefully - because every style can be beautiful when shopped correctly and when mixed properly.

Bring it.
and email
casting@triconfilms.com

GOOD LUCK.

  1. Oh wow, I would love some help with our house! Your style rocks! We are in a great 75 year old house in San pedro and it has seen some un-love from previous owners so we are trying to bring it back to what it should be.

  2. I am so excited for you! I cant wait. I even had my husband watching your show...so that means you got it girl! (LOL) Congrats! If only I was in LA. My man is so deserving of a proper man cave.

  3. Such good news! your special was so great, I've watched it over and over. If only I lived in LA. Is Sacramento too far? haha I wish more shows weren't so confined to location--there's bad design all over, right?

  4. Congratulations!!!! I'm not surprised at all though! Can't wait for the season to air! When does it?

I live in LA and would LOVE LOVE LOVE (how many times should I write that?) for you to style my place. Please! Where do I sign up?! I rent though. Is that no good? Can I pretend I own :-) We have a super cool modern condo in Santa Monica, but it's empty and boring....so much potential though. You could do wonders with it I know. Already dreaming of my 'style analysis' thingy for the show. What would my style be? Hmmm... Congrats again!

  5. Congrats on getting picked up for more episodes! That's so cool! We live in OC, is that too far from LA? LOVE your style!!!

  6. I'm so incredibly excited for you! You're living the dream girl. Living. The. Dream.

  7. I have few in L.A. who may be able to use some assistance. I will go see, and report back.

    Cheers!

  8. congratulations on the pickup! makes me wish we lived in los angeles. but if the bay area (san jose) isn't too far for you, i've got an eichler that would be perfect for your handiwork. you can even take a break from the rose bowl flea (but who would want to?) and do some bargain hunting at the alameda flea.

  9. YAY!!! So exciting!! I was wondering when the next episode was. I kept looking. . .

Please pick me for the home makeover (although I'm in Illinois)! I could move, I don't mind. Just let me know what time to be there. :o)

  10. That is soooo exciting. Your first show was the best thing that has been on HGTV in years! So happy they picked it up. Just wish I lived in LA so I could get a makeover.

  13. congratulations, babe. I really wanted to meet you after the Nate Show, but maybe I will have another chance. I didn't make the other happenings due to scheduling.....but it was great to at least see you in person.

wishing you ALL the best, Donna

  14. Darn! Why are can't any design shows come to my area? We have a cookie-cutter new build house and are trying to inject unique charm. I have my main living level figured out maybe 50%, but I have no idea how to design (or even lay out) our master bedroom. I'm almost to the point of needing professional help. :(

But big congrats on getting picked up for more episodes! I love your work and can't wait to see what you have in store for us to enjoy in the future.

    ReplyDelete
  15. OH MY GOSH! I wish I lived in LA so you could do my house... Congrats to you! If it's anything like your first show I am sure you will have no problem getting viewers! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  16. I can't wait to watch it! I just wish I had my own place! Oh and in LA, but neither is the case.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Congratulations! I hope this is just the first of many seasons!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hi Emily! We bought our house a year ago in October and have been working on renovating! We are finally at the stage of "styling" some of the rooms and could definitely use some Henderson magic! We live in LA- come visit us!!! Congrats on your show!!! Can't wait to see it!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hey Emily! It was so lovely to meet you at the HGTV lunch on Monday and to hear more about your show. Congratulations - I'll be looking out on the site and You Tube to watch as much as I can from here in the UK! xo

    ReplyDelete
  20. that's fantastic!!! i can't wait! congrats. :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. congrats!!! I know this isn't LA, but my sister really needs her house redone in Atlanta. She is the perfect sister, mom, and wife and has never been able to spend a dime on decorating her house! She definitely needs the help! Again, congrats on your show!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. AMAZING... Congrats! I wish I lived in LA!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Congrats!!

I have the perfect person for you. My mother-in-law who lives near Pasadena. She hired an interior designer in the 90's and feels like she can't change it because a designer did it (20 years ago!!!!). The room is pink and teal. Oh she's also in love with fake plants. Ugh.

    She desperately needs you Emily!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well I should hope so! It's the best show HGTV has going for them!

I am a huge fan and I knew you would win from the very first episode. Congratulations! I'll be setting my DVR.

  25. yay, that is so awesome!!! congrats

    ReplyDelete
  26. Wow!! Can't wait! How about San Diego??? It's only 1 1/2 hours away. Would that work? We need you Emily!
    Katie

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well if you every make it to Fowlerville, MI (what - never heard of it?) we could definitely use your help! My husband and I are living with two very opinionated French Bulldogs and preparing for a new baby so there are a lot of design styles to work with!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yours in the last show I've watched on HGTV. I look forward to your new shows as it's something I find worthwhile to watch. I'm so tired of the same real estate shows they carry and your show will be a breath of fresh air.

    Thank you and good luck.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Congratulations on the show. I will most certainly be watching and eating up each episode. You are a delight!! I was so disappointed I wasn't able to get into NYC in time to jump over to the HGTV luncheon, once I heard you were there. I am a fellow Portlander and would have died to meet you, I heard from everyone who did that you are a total sweetheart! The consolation prize was seeing you on the show, who would have known you were nervous!

Again, congratulation on your show being picked up. All the best!!!! Janell

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh my goodness - I wish you came to South Carolina! I absolutely love your style and my house needs major help.

Good luck with the show! I can't wait to watch it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. how could it NOT have been?!?!??! :) So happy for you. Wish I lived in LA. There are not many HGTV designers I'd let into my house... but YOU? YOU are welcome ANYtime!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Congratulations!! I wish I knew someone to forward along to you but all my friends have fabulous taste(ok, that's not true but they THINK they do and I wouldn't dream of telling them otherwise ha!).
    I'm excited to watch!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Cool and Congrats...wish I lived in LA, too,I could dreally use a restyle. after the first 26 episodes, could you take your show on the road and come to Boston??

    ReplyDelete
  34. Can't wait to tune in...if only you were willing to do a U.S. tour, stopping of course in Philadelphia! Congrats!

    ReplyDelete
  35. YAY!! I'm a recent follower of your blog, and didn't watch design star at all... :/ Should I be admitting that? haha. In my defense, we only pick up cable during football season.. anyhoo, I DID catch the pilot of Secrets of a Stylist and I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it. It's a great concept and you are beyond talented. Congratulations!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yay!! I am so excited and happy for you! I only got to see your special one time and I constantly check the program listings to see if I can catch it again! Finally, a show on HGTV that I can totally relate to!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Look at all your happy comments! Congrats! I've already been telling my friends, "watch this show!"

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yay! Congrats! It was a great show. I live in the LA area if you want to add some style to a boring '80's tract home. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Wahoooo!!! Such great news. A fun show to look forward to. If you ever come to Texas, we have rooms for you for restyling for sure. Congratulations, and have a great time with your new venture. ~ Angela

  40. When I saw the news last night, I was SO excited! What a wonderful, wonderful blessing for you! (And for us, since we get to enjoy the results.) So proud to have cheered you on all the way through DS and to see you succeeding now. Is that weird, for a stranger to be so proud of you? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  41. why doesn't anyone ever come to New England? Oh well. Congratulations! I'm really looking forward to your show.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Congrats! Why is it only LA? There are a lot of us that need you all across the great USA.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Really, your show's budget doesn't let you go other places? We like you on the East coast, too. I'm a Bostonian living in NC and my problem is that I have big ideas and my husband has different big ideas. Our progress is slow, which is super frustrating because I'm an artist.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Is Toronto, Canada too far? Hmmm I guess so :( But me and my husband will be watching! We're floored at the success you've found in one short year! A New Year's Resolution that came true :) :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Congratulations! I am so excited for you! Love the show. Wish I lived in LA...

    ReplyDelete
  46. Wow! I'm not surprised, but so happy for you, your first show was amazing and I love your personality from "hearing" your written voice and watching Design Star. I would die to have you style my house (but I live in SF Bay Area). I have a good eye for interesting things, but NO idea how to put them together. If you ever do anthing up here, I'm your girl.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I wish like heck you could do my house in NC, but I'm really just writing to say congratulations! I'm thrilled about your show!

    ReplyDelete
  48. WOO HOO!!!!!! Can't wait to see every single episode, and watch how you style different tastes (but I'm with you on the vintage, flea market, hipster style) WAY TO GO EMILY!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Congratulations on the show! I'm looking forward to it.

    ReplyDelete
  50. congrats!

But, come to denver. It's just as cool as Portland!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Ahhhhhhh congrats! This post makes me nervous, though! Our house is being considered from the first batch of applicants and I hope all these new people don't knock us out! Are you sure you just want to do one room??? Not 4 like you did for Ian?? Because 4 would be freakin' awesome. Love you to pieces.

    ReplyDelete
  52. oooooooohhh I SO wish I lived in LA!!!!!!

tell them about a trip to Mexico!! my house is yours!!! ;)

    best of luck!!! x

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hooray! I've been scanning my DVR to see if I've been missing the show but I'm glad to hear you're just getting started.

Big time wishing I lived in LA right now! But if the show ever heads toward the Midwest to shoot...say Milwaukee/Chicago areas...my house will be ready and rarin' to go!

    ReplyDelete
  54. That is wonderful news! You bring a much needed sense of fun and style to HGTV.

If you are looking for a fun challenge perhaps your producers might consider my sister's house for the show. She, her husband, and their two little girls (3 and 1) live in a mid-century ranch in the Valley. Lime green walls, blue baseboards, pink/purple/yellow kitchen cabinets...It is like living inside of a kaleidoscope. Actually, when you consider all of the tiki stuff they have it is like living inside of a pirate-themed kaleidoscope. Or a weird 80s children show. Or both at the same time.

They are really cool people and have an interesting style I just don't think they know how to translate that to their decor. Plus my 3 year old niece is such a silly little beast. She would make good t.v.

  56. I just sent an email with some info on Chris' aunt's home. She would be a great candidate.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Congratulations Emily, after seeing the pilot episode of Secrets from a Stylist I'm not surprised that the show was picked up for so many episodes. It is the best show I've seen on HGTV is some time. You dished out sooooo much useful information about what it actually takes to get the work done, how much it really costs, etc. that I had to DVR the episode and rewind it a few time to make sure I didn't miss any juicy morsels.

    ReplyDelete
  58. HOORAY! And DAMN. You're not in Portland. Stupid LA. With your palm trees and amazing weather. You don't have MOSS. We have lots of moss. And I have a living-room that needs you [http://theorangedoorcottage.blogspot.com/2010/08/living-room-progress.html]. I will just have to make some tea and watch your show, while looking at my living-room and thinking "what would Emily do?"

    ReplyDelete
  59. Congratulations! I actually submitted my application to casting before Labor Day when I saw it on the "Be on HGTV page". I got an email from someone named Saida saying that I should hear back within a day or two, but so far, no news. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be on your show. For my application, I asked you to re-do our dining room and the adjacent area behind our family room. However, I submitted pictures for my entire common area and I'm happy for you to do any room that you like. I thought perhaps we were out of the running but your post today has given me hope, again. I really, really hope you will consider us!

    Cynthia (& Evan)- Arcadia, CA

  60. Congrats. 26? They must love you! Really wish my Granny lived in LA :(

    ReplyDelete
  61. I actually submitted an application to casting before the Labor day deadline as well but haven't heard back. :( I would really love for you to come style our rec room!! My bf and I are big fans of yours!!! We live in a mid century modern ranch house in LB and I think it would be perfect for your show. I would love to make it kind of a Vegas/Rat Pack mixed with Mad Men sort of rumpus room. We look forward to hearing from you and your team!

  62. yay! loved the first episode :)

sure you don't want to come to MN??

    ReplyDelete
  63. Ooooh CONGRATS!!!! I seriously cannot WAIT to watch the show. LOVED you on Design Star, yay!!! :) I wish I lived in LA and I wish I wasn't a renter. Boo-hoo!!! xoxox Holly

    ReplyDelete
  65. This is awesome Emily!!! Congrats Congrats Congrats!!!! I cannot wait to see your show, but when you get all big and famous, please come to Chicago!!!! I would love to get a Henderson-style makeover in my place!! Can't wait to see your show this fall!!! How exciting!!!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Oh awesome! I can't wait for the next shows to air. Way to go!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Just got rejected by your casting team because our house is too far from LA center. I guess we, and/or our house, is not special enough. :(

But we will still be watching and loving your show!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Congrats! Dont live in LA, but psyched to see what you do. I would love to see a show like this in NYC too... most people in NYC live like crap.

    ReplyDelete
  69. WAAAAHHHHOOOOOO!!! I totally wish I lived in LA now. So does my mom. This will be my new favorite show!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Wish I could move to LA and get my place restyled. ;) So excited about your show being picked up!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Congrats! Wish I was in LA.

I attended the Nate Show taping on Tuesday and was so delighted to see you were one of his guests!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Hi Emily,
If Nate ever sends you on assignment on the East coast again consider doing my mother-in-laws cape style house. She has slipcovers on her slipcovers and area rugs on her wall to wall and plastic on her lamp shades etc...Loved what you did to the Nate Show hoarders and since your show is strictly west coast I'm bummed. I live right next door to my MIL and even though I am a designer, she won't let me touch anything! Shes a frugal yankee woman. Great meeting at HGTV lunch and you were so funny on your Nate segment with that family and of course talented too!!)

    ReplyDelete
  73. Congrats to a very deserving gal!! Cannot wait to see your talent again. GO GET EM, Emily :)

    ReplyDelete
  74. Well-deserved, Congratulations!
Thought Nate should have devoted a segment just to interviewing you on Tuesday!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Congrats, Emily! I'll definitely be watching your new show. It was great meeting you in NY this week at the Rue party. Me & my friends met you in the elevator & you were so sweet. And you sat by my friend, Beth, at the Nate show. Congrats on that too!!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Congratulations! So excited about the show. Meeting you at the Rue party was one of the highlights of the trip to NYC.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Yay! I loved the first one! It will be on my list of must watch shows! And I wish I lived in LA. Boo.

    ReplyDelete
  78. i'm sooooooo keeping my fingers crossed that your show gets picked up in Canada....

but it might be wishful thinking seeing as we haven't even gotten Design Star yet...

    :(

    sounds like an awesome show!

    ReplyDelete
  79. That's great news! It's going to be the best show on HGTV! You are the breath of fresh air that channel needs. Can't wait to watch.

    Teresa

    ReplyDelete
  80. Emily! I loved your first show - you have great style and taste. You're officially my favorite show on HGTV(.com). The only problem is I don't have a TV so I can only watch online through my computer. Please ask HGTV to post more episodes online. Thanks! Keep up the beautiful work!

    ReplyDelete
  81. So excited about this show you have no idea! I rooted for you throughout the whole season of Design Star, you have great style and I can't wait to see what surprises your show has in store. I WISH I could apply to be on but sadly am a renter :( Will they consider condo communities?? Keep rockin'!

    ReplyDelete
  82. I am SO happy that your show got picked up! I absolutely love the concept and your style. You are so refreshing to watch on camera because you feel real! No canned phrases and smiles.

AND I could not be happier that you are filming in LA!! I just sent an email to the casting email you listed and am crossing my fingers!

    ReplyDelete
  83. This is the best news! So glad the network sees what a great show they will have with you.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I watched Design Star and was so happy you won! My hubs saw you at lunch (in LA) and texted me that you were a couple tables away, I was so jealous I wasn't there. Star sighting!

We live in LA, I'm going to submit my master bedroom for a re-do, it needs it!

    xo

    ReplyDelete
  85. wow, its a great opportunity for a room re-do, i would love to avail it but my problem is that i do not live in LA, bad isnt it for me :( but i am happy for those will get to avail this great offer and have a perfect room done for them :)

    ReplyDelete
  86. great offer, there is nothing better than having your home or a part of it redone for you, lovely offer for an upcoming lovely room:)

    ReplyDelete
  87. Congratulations! Wow, 26 episodes seems like a lot for a first time pickup from HGTV. Is that typical? Are you and David and Antonio the only Design Stars to get picked up for a full season?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Oh man I'm so happy! I was just coming to your blog to ask when I would see some new episodes of Secrets From a Stylist!

I seriously <3 your frickin style!

    ReplyDelete
  89. This is terrific! I linked to my FB, in case any of my LA type friends is into it.

    ReplyDelete
  90. yay! SO excited for you... and me since i get to watch!

    ReplyDelete
  91. I live in Glendale and just submitted an application on behalf of my in-laws! Their house could actually be mistaken as an antique store because of all the random tsotchkes in it (2 nutcrackers, 6 mallards, 1 ceramic 3-foot cat with a plastic lei around it's neck to name a few)! We're hoping you'll like redoing their living/dining combo room as much as we would love having you there!

    ReplyDelete
  92. I'm so excited for you and I wish I lived about 5 hrs closer!

    ReplyDelete
  93. CONGRATS!! I hope you partied like a rockstar when you got the news. Because you are sort of a rock star now! (and ps SUPER adorable spread in Rue!)
